What is it?

The ultimate goal of any sewing tool or notion is to arm the creator of a project with the ability to achieve his or her creative intent. No limitations, no holds barred. If you can see it in your mind you should be able to put thread to fabric and reproduce that vision. But some self-limiting notions, or the complete lack thereof, often produce more myopic versions of that creative vision. Without specific notion generated help unique to the techniques we employ, the project often becomes more tedious, more time consuming and, perhaps, more disappointing when finished. Or, sadly, maybe we don’t even finish it. One of the most challenging applications when putting thread to fabric is forming parallel lines of stitching. When done right it is incredibly attractive and has applications to everything from quilting to fashion and accessories to home décor or even to crafting. Taking the time to measure and mark all of those parallel lines accurately is both tedious and time consuming. Kinda’ takes all the fun out of it and may even cause us second thoughts about even starting such a project. So the question remains, how can we produce perfectly parallel sewn stitches without the limitations of an assortment of artificial encumbrances (time and tools)? Remember, the goal of any sewing notion is to enhance creative freedom. And that’s just what the clever people at Clover have done. Instead of marking all of those parallel lines with the attendant tedium and time spent, why not just mark the first line and then use a purpose specific sewing tool that measures off that line for all succeeding and perfectly parallel lines. The result of their efforts has produced the ultimate stitching guide with applications to everything we sew with other applications still being developed.

What does it do?

The Ultimate Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot was designed to allow us to create perfect parallel stitching. Something important to keep in mind though, when we talk about parallel stitching we’re not inferring that the lines have to be straight. The Quilt ‘n Stitch is equally adept at inside or outside curves or even circles. Oh, and that idea that parallel means equidistant doesn’t apply either. With the Quilt ‘n Stitch we can increase the distance between succeeding parallel rows of stitches literally with the push of a button. Kind of gets those creative juices going, doesn’t it? Now we can apply quilting or decorative top stitching with reckless abandon. And it will be perfect every time. Here are some of the features:

  • The leading edge of the Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot is set to measure a perfect 1/4 inch seam allowance. The rear section of the presser foot is wide enough to cover the feed dogs, resulting in smooth, even movement of our fabric for even stitch length.
  • The Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot has an integrated ruler with an alignment guide on the end. By simply pressing the set button, the guide can be moved in 1/8 inch increments from 3/8 inch all the way to 3 inches. Releasing the button locks the guide securely into place.
  • The presser foot is constructed of a glossy finish poly-carbonate material that is both durable and extremely smooth which enables it to glide easily across our fabric.
  • The Quilt ‘n Stitch is set up to accommodate low shank sewing machines. Separate adapters are required for high shank sewing machines.

How do I Promote it?

Show it off. Set up a sewing machine with fabric, thread and the Ultimate Quilt ‘n Stitch Presser Foot attached and let fate take its course. Allow your friends to experience the ease and accuracy of making parallel lines, curves, circles, and even crosshatching. You know, all the designs people wish they could do but don’t because of the challenge it presents. Display some samples of parallel stitching on quilts, fashion, and home decor projects. Classes are great too. Everyone will immediately realize the creative potential now available to them. When everyone discovers that they can produce quality parallel work and do it without all of the tedious “busy work” they’ll be all in.
